Description:
The Supertone Special Single is directly inspired by the Dumble Steel String Singer (Hi-Plate version), a type of amplifier used by guitarists such as Matt Schofield, John Mayer, and Joe Bonamassa.
It is dedicated to clean sounds: enormous headroom, sonic clarity, dynamics and touch sensitivity at the highest levels to bring out the best of the guitar and effects chain.
It sounds wonderful at any volume level, is extremely sturdy, due to the cabinet being made with dovetail joints, and is easy to transport in its shockproof gig bag, thanks to its compact size and weighing a maximum of only 14 kg in the 100W version!
The multiple controls allow for unparalleled sound customization; it is a professional machine.
In addition to the Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass and Master controls (the tone stack is D-Style Rock), there are three selectors on the faceplate: Bright (increases the brightness of the sound, especially at low Volume settings), Mid (raises the harmonic content in the mid-frequency range), Deep (deeper bass, slightly ‘hollow’ mids reminiscent Blackface style).
The FET boost is a field effect transistor (FET) preamplifier located right at the input of the amplifier: it can give an extra ‘kick’ to the signal, whether you just want to increase the input sensitivity or add saturation and harmonic content to the sound, i.e. the ‘thickness’ of the sound.
As for the Reverb control, at the beginning of the range it can be barely noticeable with a hi-cut so as to not interfere too much with the guitarist’s playing. At higher values it becomes much more present and the reverb covers the entire audible spectrum.
Available in different finishes and power ratings, the Supertone Special can be extensively customised to suit the guitarist’s needs (effects loop, reverb, finishes on request, specific electrical and voicing specifications, etc.), even at a later date. This is possible because it is a totally handcrafted product: each amplifier is made one by one with extreme care and attention to the smallest detail.
